BOXER Bridge Layer

BOXER Bridge System combines the capabilities of the assault Bridge System Leguan with the unique protection and mobility of the combat proven wheeled armoured vehicle BOXER. This combination is the prerequisite for enforcement in high-intense conflicts, the provision of emergency temporary infrastructure during natural disasters and ensures flexibility for future military requirements and scenarios.

The new level creating mobility

The Bridge System Leguan meets the BOXER capabilities providing a new wheeled armoured vehicles order

BOXER Bridge System can be equipped with a one-piece 14 m Leguan bridge that can span over a 13 m gap in less than three minutes and handle Military Load Class (MLC) 80 or 100. There is also a 22 m bridge available to bridge 20 m gaps in less than six minutes and handle MLC 50. The 22 m bridge comes in two sections, which will slide forward horizontally when laying, to reduce signature and avoid a scissor system. A similar system is in use with Leopard 2 bridge layer “Leguan”.

The fully automatic, electronically controlled Leguan bridge can be laid and rolled back on a wide range of terrains. The crew of two (driver, operator/commander) is highly protected in the Drive Module and the front section of the Mission Module. The operator can lay the bridge by using an operating element and a graphical user interface. The integrated programme for selftest ensures high reliability of the bridge system and informs the crew of unexpected issues.

In addition to high flexibility and mobility BOXER Bridge System provides its crew with extraordinary survivability and superior protection against mines (AT, AP), IEDs, highest ballistic thre ats (incl. artillery fragments), NBC threats and detection (radar, noise).
