

Development contract signed for new BOXER variant
A development contract for the new BOXER variant Joint Fire Support Team (JFSTheavy) was signed between ARTEC and OCCAR (on behalf of the German Bundeswehr) in Bonn. The contract comprises the delivery of two prototype vehicles and a reference system for conducting trials and tests. The variant will assist land, air and maritime forces and the tasks of BOXER JFSTheavy include the monitoring of the battle, the reconnaissance and identification of targets, the fire control of its own and allied forces and the determination of success of the used effectors as well as the evaluation and reporting of its own reconnaissance results and those of other troops. To fulfil the wide spectrum of tasks BOXER JFSTheavy includes state of the art capabilities for Detection, Recognition and Identification (DRI), weapon aiming on the move during day and night, tracking and engaging targets in different environments as well as surveillance and observation.
